Itinerary

 

Day 1
Early pick up from hotel and drive to Gallipoli and have lunch on the way. (approx. 4 hours 30 mins. drive one way). Upon arrival, visit the Kabatepe War Museum which is located within the Gallipoli Historic National Park. There is an exhibit of photographs of soldiers, their uniforms, weapons, and other findings from the battlefields. Anzac Cove is a small cove on the Gallipoli peninsula. It was the landing site and main base of Anzac’s during the World War I. Lone Pine, with it’s sweeping views over the Aegean and down the Gallipoli peninsula, is where Turks and Anzacs fought and died. Lone Pine was the name given to a solitary tree which marked the site of the Battle of Lone Pine. There is a cemetery and Memorial dedicated to the Australian & New Zealand soldiers who fought in Gallipoli. Chunuk Bair Heights is one of the three high points on the Sari Bair range. These were the main objectives of the Anzacs’ offensive of early August 1915 when they tried to break out of the stalemate with the Turks in the Anzac sector. Original tunnels and trenches at Johnston Jolly, New Zealander Memorial, the Nek Cemetery, Brighton Beach and more… Overnight in Canakkale.

 

Day 2
After the breakfast, drive to Selcuk visit the House of the Virgin Mary as the final resting place of the Virgin Mary. In the Ephesus Ancient City; Baths of Varius, Odeon, Prytaneion, Fountain of Polio, The Gate of Heracles, State Agora, Public toilets, Temple of Hadrian, Temple of Domitian, Library of Celsus, Great Theater and harbor street with the necropolis will be seen. After the lunch visit St. John’s Basilica, A part of the site, was built in the 6th century AD, under emperor Justinian I over the supposed site of the apostle’s tomb. The Temple of Artemis, one of the seven wonders of ancient world was a famous place of pilgrimage for centuries. Overnight in Selcuk or Kusadasi.

 

Day 3
After the breakfast, depart from Selcuk or Kusadasi and drive to Priene which was the first planned city of the ancient world. Visit the Theater, The Temple of Athena, the Prytaneum, the Agora, the Altar of Zeus and Cybele. Proceed to Miletus, one of the principal lonion cities and home of Thales, twice visited by St. Paul. Visit the Byzantine fortress, the Nymphoion, the Bouleterion, the Faustina Bath and Ilyas Bey Mosque, proceed to Didyma and visit the best preserved Temple of Apollo. Have Lunch by the temple. Overnight in Didyma.

 

Day 4
After the breakfast, depart from Didyma area to Pamukkale (Cotton Castle). After lunch visit the ancient Hellenistic & Roman city ruins of Hierapolis. See the magnificently preserved Necropolis of the ancient Hellenistic world, Roman basilical baths, Domitian gate, latrines, Agora, Colonnaded street, Byzantine gate and Roman fountains & Grand Theatre. Transfer back to Izmir or Denizli airport. Evening flight back to Istanbul or continue to your next destination.
